The Irish chicken curry was a standout—wow, absolutely delish! Plus, the beds were super comfy, not too hard or soft. Easy access to Circular Quay and the Opera House just a quick stroll away, which made every bit of the stay worth it.

No lift meant lugging our suitcases up four flights—bit of a trek! And while the shared bathrooms had some issues, the overall charm of this old hotel was hard to resist.

Location is very convenient to explore the city.

The shared bathrooms were not clean, which was disappointing. Also, there was no hot water during my stay, making it quite uncomfortable. Lastly, the noise from outside started early in the morning, disrupting my sleep.

The ensuite room provided everything needed for a comfortable stay, being adequately clean despite showing some age. The pub serves decent food at reasonable prices, making it a solid choice for post-exploration meals.

Noise from live music on certain nights can penetrate the rooms, potentially disturbing light sleepers. There are no elevators, necessitating lugging bags up stairs to reach the rooms, which can be a hassle, especially after a long day. Additionally, the shared bathrooms, while plentiful, were a bit underwhelming in terms of cleanliness, and some rooms showed wear like peeling paint and dampness in spots.

great atmosphere

It was just an excellent fit for a short visit in Sydney with good value considering the price it charged. The live music created a great atmosphere, making the stay even more enjoyable. Bring earplugs for the noise if you're a light sleeper.

The Budget Twin Room was pretty comfy with nice beds that made sleep easy. The shared bathrooms were spotless, which was a pleasant surprise. I liked how close it was to the CBD and the Quay area—so convenient! Staff were super friendly, and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch special for just $15. Only downside was that it got a bit noisy later in the evening with live music, but it didn’t bother us too much.
